This self-portrait was painted (and stitched) in early 2023. I’ve done a few self-portraits over the years, one of which I did just a few months before this one. Usually, I’ll do them as an exercise between projects, but this one was done to document a very strange time, as a sort of exposure therapy meets art therapy. But all that aside, it’s my favorite of all the self-portraits I’ve done, maybe one of my favorite works entirely. I don’t care to hang it, I don’t mind if it sells or not — I’m just glad it exists.
